We are all aware of our responsibility to mother nature. As the years are progressing global warming is taking centre seat of our life. Summers are getting hotter and are prolonged. Winters are hurting too. We have totally lost control of weather predictions. This is not going to get better unless we all are going to put conscious effort in our daily usage of nature’s resources.
Globally all countries are geared to limiting global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels, the UN has set a goal to reduce global carbon emissions by 45% by 2030 and reach net zero emissions by 2050 (though India is aiming net zero by 2070!!).
The goal is to reduce the carbon footprint. It is everyone’s responsibility and let it not just be a government initiative. We can start right here at our home. Smart home automation can help reduce our carbon footprint by optimizing energy use and preventing unnecessary energy consumption. By introducing renewable resources and managing their usage, turning off lighting automatically when not in use or adjust based on natural lighting, using cooling/heating sensibly based on outside temperature and when occupied, avoiding running landscaping sprinklers during monsoons, having blind/curtains pull down as sunlight travels to avoid heat infiltration thereby reducing load on the cooling and more can be achieved by making you homes smart.
Early studies found that home automation systems can reduce CO2 emissions by 13%. A study on one of our clients’ homes that is automated and is a part of community living with similar size homes gets the least Electricity Bill compared to the other non-automated homes in the same complex. The bills get as low by 15-20%. We have seen similar spends in many of our clients over the years. This study instilled me to write this article.
Venba Tech has been automating home for over 15+ years and we are proud that we are able to contribute to reducing carbon footprint. We design our projects towards ensuring sustainability and energy efficiency with user defined rules. Our laudation to clients who have been quite conscious in implementing smartness in their energy, water and other resource utilisation and are contributing directly to reducing carbon emission by converting their homes to smart homes.
This article is to spread awareness amongst home owners to plan a small percentage of their build cost into making their home smart which will not only yield a ROI in 5-7 years but also you will be playing an active role in reducing the upcoming plague which is GLOBAL WARMING!!! Please be aware that there will be no vaccination for this, the responsibility lies with each one of us to curtail this in our lifestyle.
Smart home automation isn't just a technological convenience—it’s a means of integrating sustainable practices into daily life. Each small change made through automated systems helps, collectively, to curtail our environmental impact. By adopting home automat.ion, homeowners are making a proactive choice for sustainability, lower energy costs, and a healthier planet.
